What is PM SVANidhi Scheme?
The PM SVANidhi scheme is a central government scheme providing working capital loans to eligible street vendors without any collateral. This has been launched to support street vendors with their financial issues and help them start or improve their business.
Street vendors play a significant part of the Indian economy by selling vegetable, fruit, food, clothing, household items and general items. Many provide services like tailoring, hair cutting and shoe repairs.
As these are small businesses they often need consistent working capital. The PM SVANidhi scheme means that eligible street vendors can access formal credit. Once they have successfully repaid previous loans they will be entitled to larger loans under the conditions of the scheme.
