The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has issued a Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 07/2026 for recruitment to various Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Undergraduate posts in Indian Railways. A total number of 1688 vacancies are available for eligible candidates who have passed Class 12 or its equivalent qualification.

The recruitment shall be for Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk Cum Typist, Junior Clerk Cum Typist and Trains Clerk posts. Candidates can apply online through the official RRB website. The online application process started from 15th October 2026 and the last date for applying online shall be 13th November 2026.

Candidates must go through the eligibility criteria like educational qualification, age limit, application fee, selection procedure, salary and medical criteria.

The post-wise vacancies will be distributed in different RRBs, Zones and Production Units. To know about vacancies under your preferred RRB and zone, you can refer Annexure B of the official notification.

The vacancies might be increased, reduced or revised by the Railway Administration depending on their requirements.

Educational Qualification For RRB NTPC Undergraduate Posts

The candidates should have minimum educational qualification in any recognized board/institution up to 13th November 2026.

All the posts require minimum qualifying educational qualification of Class 12 (+2 Stage).

1. Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk

The candidate should have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks.

SC/ST, PWD, Ex-serviceman and candidates having educational qualifications higher than Class 12 will not be insisted to score 50%.

2. Accounts Clerk Cum Typist

The applicants should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with minimum 50% marks, with exemptions given in the official notification.

3. Junior Clerk Cum Typist

The candidate should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with minimum 50% marks with exemptions.

4. Trains Clerk

The candidate should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with minimum 50% marks with exemptions.

Note: Candidates who are yet to appear for their final result of minimum educational qualification will not be eligible. To know about full eligibility criteria for each post, refer Annexure A of CEN No. 07/2026.

RRB NTPC Age Limit 2026

The age limit for the notified undergraduate posts is between 18 to 30 years as on 1st January 2027.

As per notification,

Minimum Age: Should have not been born after 1st January 2009.
Maximum Age (UR/EWS): Should have not been born before 2nd January 1997.
Maximum Age (OBC-NCL): Should have not been born before 2nd January 1994.
Maximum Age (SC/ST): Should have not been born before 2nd January 1992.

Age Relaxation

Age Relaxation is available for eligible categories as per notification.

Other provisions apply to eligible Ex-Servicemen and some active railway personnel. Refer to the official notification for more information regarding the criteria and age calculation.

RRB NTPC Salary 2026

The salary will depend on the post and the pay scale provided by the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

Additional allowances and benefits could be offered based on the rules of the relevant railway service. The salary of the employee would depend upon the applicable allowances and deductions.

These figures are starting basic pay. There is no guarantee that you will receive this amount per month.

RRB NTPC Application Fee 2026

Candidates must pay the applicable exam fee online when applying.

Refund under the terms and conditions mentioned in the notification, will be issued to those who have attempted First Stage CBT. Applicable banking charges may apply.

Candidates can make payments through any of the available online payment options like internet banking, debit/credit card, UPI etc.

Note- The Economically Backward Class (EBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Other Backward Class (OBC) are different categories. Eligibility for fee concession will not mean reservation in vacancies.

RRB NTPC Selection Process 2026

Following are the stages of selection process-

1. First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1)

2. Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 2)

3. Document Verification

4. Medical Examination

Selection will be done on merit and qualifying marks. Documents will be verified and candidates must be medically fit.

As per the notification, Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) has been cancelled for the post of ‘Accounts Clerk Cum Typist’ and ‘Junior Clerk Cum Typist’ under CEN No. 07/2026. However, basic knowledge of computers and typing skills are expected from the candidates and may be tested later.

CBT 1 Exam Pattern

First Stage CBT is a screening test applicable for all notified posts.

Negative Marking: For every wrong answer one-third of a mark will be deducted.

Candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in the second stage CBT based on their normalized scores of CBT 1.

Carefully fill your personal details, educational details & category.

Fill out necessary details for identity proof & take a live photo as per instructions.
Upload your signature along with other documents.
Pay the exam fee by any of the online payment options.
Carefully check the details in the application & submit it.
Save or print the confirmation page for future references.

Ensure that the name, date of birth, education details & category details are same as mentioned in your documents. Also, the details filled while creating an account like mobile no. & Email ID cannot be edited.
